Who We Are

Arkansas Frontier was created by teachers who want children to know about their heritage and about the importance of farmers.  Children need to know that farmers are responsible for growing our food.  Arkansas Frontier is a real working farm and is proud of its farming roots.  We want to share the farming experience with the younger generation that may have little or no experience with farm life.  Many children today may think that milk comes from refrigerators and that vegetables are grown in grocery stores.  Our hope is that after children visit Arkansas Frontier they will have a greater understanding of agriculture and an appreciation for our farming heritage here in Arkansas.  We want to give children a chance to interact with nature and farm animals.  Arkansas Frontier’s mission is to provide education through entertainment.

Arkansas Frontier started out as a group of teachers that was dedicated to making a class trip for school children that was a learning experience as well as entertaining for teachers and children.  The teachers wanted to provide hands-on activities and life-experience activities where children could learn about history, nature, farm life, animals, insects, trees, plants, machinery, literature, and many other social, cultural, and physical skills.  It was also important to educate children on where food really comes from and the everyday math and science that is all around us.  The teachers felt a class trip should be a learning experience, but should still be very entertaining.  The teachers wanted the children to learn things that they could not learn in the classroom and to experience the activities instead of just reading about them.  It was also important to tie the learning into something that was taking place at school in the classroom such as in history, math, science, health, reading, etc.
